Dr Vasileios Sarafis trained as a gynaecologist and fertility specialist in the UK, including four years at C.Re.A.Te Fertility in London alongside Professor Geeta Nargund and Professor Stuart Campbell — pioneers of mild IVF and advanced fertility ultrasound. That experience shaped how he practises.
He kept meeting patients who had been through multiple IVF cycles with no answers — told to “just try again” without anyone investigating why. He began asking different questions: about metabolic health, inflammation, immune function, sleep, toxin exposure, and sperm quality beyond a basic semen analysis. The S.A.F.A.R.I. Protocol grew out of those questions. He now practises in Thessaloniki and Athens, with a special interest in complex cases.
The protocol’s scientific review was developed with Dr Luca Gianaroli MD, FRCOG (Hon) — Scientific Director, IIRM; Director of Global Educational Activities, IFFS.
